The Gunnison flows out of the Black Canyon into a rugged gorge with brown and rainbow trout and a much more remote feel than a roadside fishery. Chukar, Ute and Duncan are trailhead choices, not drive-up riverbanks: each requires a descent into the canyon. Choose the approach first and allow for the climb back, primitive access roads and the demands of any river trip.
